Growing a follower base can feel impossible and daunting at times. It’s not as simple as posting and walking away; it takes more time than you would think. But don’t worry; I have three easy steps to help grow your followers and save you some time while doing so.

Tip 1: Use Video

No, I’m not saying your business needs a TikTok account, although if you want to make one go for it! TikTok has caused a ripple effect on other platforms that have made short-form videos gain more traction.

Instagram has made it really easy to create Reels on their platform, and you don’t even need videos to do it! All you have to do is pick a few pictures and/or videos and set it to some music and BOOM you have a Reel! I promise, it really is that easy

Instagram is serving Reels to a wider audience than just your followers, don’t ask me why. You just have to trust the Instagram algorithm.

Tip 2: Actually USE the account like it’s a real person!

If you want to be noticed, then take the time to notice others. Follow other local businesses, and share their posts, and they will likely do the same. Take the time to reply to comments on your posts or like posts that tag you!

Make it a goal to spend ten minutes each day interacting with people in your community. People will start seeing your name everywhere. That builds recognition, and they will probably follow you and, even better, visit your business.

Tip 3: Schedule your posts

Instagram has a tool you can use to schedule your posts, so you don’t have to go on there every day and think of a brand new post. Instead, block out a couple of hours each month to create the content and captions. This will save you time and also help you see patterns in what people are interacting with.

I know it doesn’t sound fun to think about Instagram for more than ten minutes, but it will save you time in the long run, and you won’t forget and miss any posts.

Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone and spend some time inside the platform. And if all else fails, just be consistent and be true to your brand. You got this!
